Ray O. Barnes
age 97 of Girard, IL passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. Ray was born September 22, 1911 in Girard, IL, son of Richard M. & Agnes (Greaves) Barnes. Ray married Florence (Spears) in 1932 at the Methodist parsonage in Jerseyville, IL. She died March 30, 1993. After marriage Ray worked as a farm hand. In 1942 he started working construction and continued until 1944 when he went to work at Allis Chalmers in Springfield. Ray retired in 1970 with 26 year. Surviving family members is, son, Donald R. Barnes wife Hazel of Girard, grandchildren, Brad Barnes and Donna Miller, Great Granddaughters, Laura Collins and Jessica Wise, and 3 Great Great Grandchildren.s. Funeral Information
Funeral Services will be held Friday, Oct. 24, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 at the funeral home on Thursday. Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery. Donations Information
Memorials may be made to the Girard Twsp. Library or First Church of God in Springfield.
