Shirley J. Leach
83, of Springfield, formerly of Girard, passed away Sunday morning August 18, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
She was born on June 16, 1930 to Walter and Pauline (Forbes) Huson in Girard. She graduated from Girard High School with the class of 1948. Shortly after graduating Shirley married Herbert W. Leach on June 13, 1948 at the First Christian Church in Girard.
The first 20 years of marriage Shirley stayed at home and raised her family. The next 20 years she was the bookkeeper for Leach Building Materials in Girard. Her last employment was with the State of Illinois as a secretary for the Secretary of State's office in Springfield. Shirley and Herb loved to dance and fish. She was active in both the First Christian Church in Girard and then the West Side Christian Church in Springfield.
Shirley is survived by her loving spouse of 65 years, Herbert, 3 daughters - Lana McKennedy (husband Dan) of Virden, IL, Cheryl Dillman (husband Bill) of Bloomington, IL, Debra Crocks (husband Frank) of Virden, IL; son - Robert Leach (wife Donna) of Girard, IL; 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral Information
Visitation will be held at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard on Friday, August 23rd, from 9:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am. Rev. Gary Winkleman of the West Side Christian Church in Springfield will officiate.
Burial will take place in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in rural Girard. Donations Information
