Obituary of Betty J. Konneker

Betty J. Konneker 85, of Carlinville passed away Thursday afternoon, August 28, 2014, at Friendship Home in Carlinville surrounded by her loving family. Her first priorities and pride in life were her husband, family and home. Kind, loving and strong, but always gentle, "Grandma Betty" will be fondly remembered for her delicious apple pies, oatmeal cookies and vegetable soup. Betty was born April 16, 1929, in Carlinville, IL, a twin daughter of Walter G. and Idella (Jennings) Fullington. She married Donald L. Konneker, August 10, 1947, in Carlinville, IL and enjoyed 67 years of marriage. Betty graduated from Carlinville High School, class of 1946. Betty was a member of Cross Church in Carlinville and past member of St. Paul's UCC where she served as a member of the Women's Guild, Alter Guild, Choir, Sunday school teacher and served on the church council. When her children were young she was active with the Carlinville PTA and Cub Scout Den Mother. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers John, Jess, Raymond Fullington, sisters Verda Armour and twin sister Norma Challans. Surviving are her, husband, Donald L. Konneker of Carlinville, IL, daughter, Kathryn J. (Robert) Basso of Carlinville, IL, son, William W. (Tammy) Konneker of Carlinville, IL, son, Robert D. (Ann) Konneker of Crystal Lake, IL, son, Richard L. (Nancy) Konneker of Staunton, IL, grandson, Douglas (Ruby) Basso, granddaughter, Laura (Martin) Mix, grandson, Josef Konneker, grandson, David (Heidi) Konneker, granddaughter, Morgan (Tyler) Lynch, granddaughter, Alison (Matt) Hunt, granddaughter, Kristin(Ben) Livermore, granddaughter, Alissa (Frank III) Barrett, grandson, Joshua Konneker, granddaughter, Sarah (Thomas) Withee, 15 great grandchildren. Funeral Information Visitation will be held Thursday, September 4, 2014 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Cross Church in Carlinville. Funeral Services will take place 10:00 am, Friday, September 5, 2014, Cross Church with Rev. Tim Rhodus officiating. Burial will be in Moore Cemetery rural Carlinville.
