Obituary of Jana Ruth Konneker

Jan "Mrs.K" Konneker 77, of Carlinville, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. She was born Saturday, October 22, 1932 in Glenalice, TN, the Daughter of the Paul and Verna Elizabeth (Boles) Early Voss. Her Mother married Marshall C. Voss after her husband "Paul" died when Jan was five years old. She married Arthur Konneker in the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Carlinville, on August 18, 1956. Jan was fiercely devoted to her husband Arthur and to her family. They were of the utmost importance to her. Jan spent hours playing games and watching movies with her grandchildren. Teaching was definitely more of a passion than it was an occupation. She could never stop caring for and worrying about her former students. Jan spent 40 years teaching for the Southwestern and Carlinville School Districts. Jan loved the water and water sports throughout her life, most recently spending peaceful days and evenings at Otter Lake. She also enjoyed fishing throughout her lifetime as well as water skiing in her younger days. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carlinville. Survivors: Husband, Arthur Konneker, Daughters, Kim Bruzek (Steven) of Wheaton, IL, and Elizabeth Sandino (Steven) of Carlinville, Son, Scott "Bart" Konneker (Brenda) of Carlinville, Grandchildren, Mathew Konneker, Ashley Wofford (Jack), Alyse Sandino, Andrew Sandino, Elliot Bruzek (Stef) and Alexander Bruzek, Great Grandchildren, Christian Konneker, Kyra Konneker, Jocelyn Wofford. Funeral Information Friends may call from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, July 16 at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carlinville. Funeral services will be held, 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, with Rev. Robert Sabo officiating. Ruth Mayo and Chris Powell will provide the music. Burial will be in Moore Cemetery in rural Carlinville. Pallbearers: Steve Bruzek, Steve Sandino, Jack Wofford, Mathew Konneker, Ashley Wofford, Alexander Bruzek, Alyse Sandino, and Andrew Sandino.
