Obituary of James E. Knudson

James E. "Jim" Knudson James E. "Jim" Knudson, 77, of Girard, formerly of Virden , died Friday, June 26, 2009 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born May 29, 1932 in Dawson, North Dakota, the Son of the late Newton Knudson and the late Mary (Gunning) Knudson. He married Jane Bergan in Pocahontas, Arkansas on May 23, 1953. Knudson attended Carlinville High School, and then served his country as a Corporal in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated the Deep Rock Service Station in Virden for 35 years, and later was a mechanic for ET Tire in Virden. He also was a transportation driver for Care-O-Sel Daycare in Virden. Jim loved working in his yard with his garden and flowers. He was a Cubs fan, and loved spending time with his family. . Survivors: Wife, Jane Knudson, Son, Tim Knudson (Companion: Patti Hamilton) of Springfield, Daughter, Tammy Sloman of Girard, Granddaughter, Sara Wiseman (Matt of Virden), Great-Grandson, Griffin Wiseman, Brothers, Ralph Knudson (Companion: Vivian Wiseman of Hartford, IL), Gerald "Bud" Knudson (Judy) of Girard, Richard Knudson (Verna) of Carlinville, and Dan Knudson (Evelyn) of Nixa, MO, Sisters, Doris Kuntzmann (Howard), and Mary Ann Maltby, both of Carlinville. Several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Knudson. Funeral Information A Memorial Visitation will be held Thursday, July 2nd, from 4 - 7:00 P.M. at the Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard.
