Robert "Bob" Warren Knowles

Bob Knowles 81 of Carlinville passed away Thursday, March 6, 2008 at 4:40 P.M. at Carlinville Area Hospital. He was born January 30, 1927 in Carlinville, IL, the son of the late Harry A. & Maude (Arnold) Knowles. He married Vena Joan Welton February 2, 1952 in Las Cuces, New Mexico and she passed away September 27, 2006. Bob enlisted in the Navy and served from 1944 to 1946. In 1948 he enlisted in the Army and retired in 1966 as a Chief Warrent Officer. During the years of 1948 to 1950 Bob served in General McArthur's Honor Guard in Tokyo, Japan. Bob then worked at Raytheon Corp as an engineer, a Contractor, the EPA and retired again in 1986 from the Internal Revenue Service.

Bob was a member of the Carlinville United Methodist Church, Mt. Nebo Masonic Lodge, Guy Baird American Legion Post #554. He loved the Chicago Cubs, fishing, gardening, and exercising. Funeral Information
