Russell E. Keagy
85, of Carlinville passed away Monday, December 30, 2013, at Carlinville Area Hospital in Carlinville, IL. Russell was born September 26, 1928, in Beaver County, PA, a son of John and Pearl (Arnett) Keagy. Russell married Norma Klaus on September 17, 1950.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents; John and Pearl Keagy and a brother James Martin Keagy.
Russell graduated from Carlinville High School as a member of the class of 1948. After graduating Russell farmed in Bird and Western Mound Townships, retiring in 1992. He enjoyed golfing, deer hunting, and traveling and was a member of the Rockbridge United Methodist Church. Russell was member of the Macoupin County Farm Bureau, Macoupin County Historical Society, Plainview Masonic Lodge #461, M&M Shrine Club, and the Ansar Shrine. Russell was also a Past Master of the Chesterfield Masonic Lodge #445, Past Patron Agnes Wickfield Chapter #447 Order of the Eastern Star, Past High Priest of the Macoupin Royal Arch Masons Chapter #187, Past Illustrious Master of the Carrollton Council #48, and Past Commander of St. Omer Commandery #30. At a State Level Russell served as a Grand Sentinel of the Grand Council and Grand Steward of the Royal Arch Masons. Russell was also a member of the Knights of the York Cross of Honor and served as a chairman of the Macoupin County ASC for several years.
Surviving are his wife; Norma Keagy of Carlinville, IL, sons; Dwayne (Karen) Keagy of Carmel, IN and John (Tricia) Keagy of East Alton, IL, and a granddaughter; Sophie Anne Keagy of Carmel, IN. Funeral Information
Visitation will be Friday, January 3, 2014, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis- Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville, IL. Masonic Service will be held following the visitation.
Funeral services will be Saturday January 4, 2014 at 10:30 am at Davis- Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville.
Burial will follow in the Chesterfield Cemetery. Donations Information
