Obituary of Laurance Rodell Janssen

Laurance "L.J." Rodell Janssen age 75, of Girard, IL, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. Larry was born in Taylorville, IL, the son of John and Thelma (Chausse) Janssen. Larry married Erma Clark in 1957 and they later divorced. He then married Carolyn Edwards- Wallace on April 26, 1996 at Union Chapel Church in Girard, IL. He worked as a service manager for Boente Shell until 1988. Then worked at R.P Lumber as a yard foreman in Chatham until he retired in 2005. He was a member of Ss Mary & Joseph Catholic Church in Carlinville. Larry enjoyed restoring International tractors, fishing, riding motorcycles and traveling. Surviving are his wife, Carol; son, Dennis "Jelly" (Shawn) Janssen, of Gillespie, IL; son, Laurance "Scootie" (Kris) Janssen, of Carlinville, IL; son, Michael (Patti) Janssen, of Carlinville, IL; son, Patrick Janssen, Carlinville, IL; daughter, Joyce (Terry) Hermann, Elwood City, PA; step-daughters, Jane (Ron, deceased) Morrison, Auburn, IL; Pam Wallace, Girard, IL; Marsha Spoon, Girard, IL; step-son, Michael (Kayla) Strader, Chatham, IL. 11 Grandchildren, 5 Step Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren & 4 Step Great Grandchildren, several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Gordan Janssen, brothers Virgil and Donald Janssen. Funeral Information Visitation will be held Friday, January 10, 2014, 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard, IL. Services will be held Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 10:00 am at the funeral home, with Monsignor Holinga officiating. Burial will follow at Union Chapel Cemetery.
