Thelma B. Gunning, age 88, of Carlinville, died Friday, February 22, 2008 at 10:39 A.M. at the Carlinville Area Hospital. Thelma was born August 14, 1919, in Carlinville, the daughter of William and Rosa (Weller) Scott. She attended Carlinville schools. Thelma married George M. Gunning on January 16, 1936 in Carlinville. George preceded her in death on May 20, 1956.

Thelma was a cook at Drosten's Restaurant in Carlinville until it closed. She loved being around family and attending yard sales in the area.

She is survived by six children: Mary Dennis of Lincoln, Illinois, Rita Manning, Julia Fredericks, Betty Branson, Josie Talkington (Ron), and Art Gunning, all of Carlinville, Illinois. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren survive. A brother, Charles Scott (Opel), of Hot Springs, Arkansas, also survive, along with several nieces and nephews.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 3 Sons: Samuel, Charles, and Ronald Gunning, 4 brothers: George, Henry, Clarence, and Claude Scott. 2 sisters: Pearl Beard and Nellie Scott. Funeral Information



A private Memorial Service will be held at Thelma's home at a later date. Donations Information
