Dorothy Ann Gerber
age 91, of Carlinville, Illinois, died on December 18, 2008 at her home. She was born November 30, 1917 in Carlinville, the daughter of Opha Drury and Anna Ryan Drury.
Mrs. Gerber was a 1935 graduate of Carlinville High School. She attended business school for two years and then worked at Sangamo Electric Company in Springfield, Illinois. During the years 1943 to 1946 she was a Sergeant in the United States Women's Army Corps and was a secretary to several generals at the Pentagon. She married John B. Gerber on December 23, 1945 in Washington D.C., creating a marriage of nearly 63 years.
She is survived by her husband, John Gerber, daughter Donna Kasten (husband, Carl) and daughter Mary Therese Gerber, all of Carlinville, and son Dennis Gerber of Liverpool, New York, a brother Paul Drury of Carlinville and a sister Rosemary Roach of Pekin, Illinois. Preceding her in death was her son Jeremy Gerber. She is survived also by four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Mrs. Gerber was a member of Ss. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church and for many years sang in the St. Mary's choir and the Carlinville Community Choir. She was a member of the Veronica Club, the Catholic Daughters of America, the Country Kuzins Square Dancing Club and the Cardinal Wing RV Camping Club. Funeral Information
Funeral Mass will be held Monday, December 22, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Ss. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow in New Calvary Cemetery in Carlinville, Illinois. Friends may call on Sunday, December 21, 2008 from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. at the church. A prayer service will be recited at 2:45 p.m.
