Condolences
I remember Bernice as Dr. Finney's nurse during my childhood. At Sunrise my aunt, Lois Elsperman, worked with her. They were both dedicated to their jobs and tough in their own ways. They had fun together. I met Bernice when she was a resident of Sunrise and that is when I learned of her military work and the Bronze Star. What a fine woman and person of depth of character. One of the heroes among us whom we do not know about until later.
I am sorry for your loss. I worked with Clyde for many years and heard so many stories of things he did for Bernice that showed his love for her. I visited Bernice in the last year and had a great visit with her. I told her that I remembered the "X & O" ring that Clyde had made and she proudly showed it to me as a necklace. I have been out of town and unable to make the visitation.
Tac, I will never forget you. I recall the last time I was able to hug you... that was Memorial Day, '11. I wish I'd have stayed even a few minutes longer with you. I still have countless pieces of artwork, etc., that you were so very kind to give me over the years. Whenever I look at any one of them, I'll see you and hear you. I cannot be there at this time. But, I am there in my heart... the place where you will always remain. Love and the fondest of memories, forever.
I am so sorry to hear of Bernice's passing. I have fond memories of her when she worked for Dr. Finney, and she had good aim for a shot in the hip when Doc ordered one! Seriously, such love and compassion for her job. I remember my dad telling me about "Tack and Tom" and could never figure it out. Now, I understand fully. God Blessings.
