Obituary of Kate A. Eldred

Kathleen A. "Kate" Eldred 75, of Carlinville, passed Monday morning, October 1, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. Kate was born on January 17, 1937 to Ollie and Nellie (Greenan) Martin in Mt. Olive, IL. She was a 1954 graduate of Carlinville High School. Kate married Jon Eldred on January 16, 1960 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Carlinville. Kate was a homemaker. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, golfing, shopping, walking and reading. Kate was also a member of Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic church in Carlinville. Kate is survived by her husband Jon; son, Andy Eldred of Carlinville; daughter, Kim Mehrkens (Mark) of Pontiac, IL; grandchildren, Alex Eldred, Seth Mehrkens and Madalyn Mehrkens; a brother, Dick Martin (Sandy) of Sun Lakes, AZ, as well as several nieces and nephews. Kate was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and Nellie Martin; brothers, Bud, Bill, John and Jim Martin; sisters, Marian Greenan and Eileen Drew. Funeral Information Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church in Carlinville. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Rev. Angel Sierra officiating. Burial will follow in New Calvary Cemetery, Carlinville.
