Iola Dunn
92, of Carlinville, went to be with her Lord with her family at her side Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Carlinville Area Hospital.
Iola was born Wednesday, October 9, 1918 in Macoupin County, the daughter of John R. and Dessie (Richie) Crays. She married John L. Dunn in Carter, Mississippi on December 19, 1953.
Iola loved to coon hunt, fish, crochet and bowl. She also loved to go dancing with her husband, John. Iola worked at Carlinville Area Hospital and Jerseyville Hospital, as well as, several area nursing homes.
Iola is survived by two daughters, Viola Griffith (George) of Carlinville and Linda Fester (Ed) of Batchtown, IL; son, William "Bill" Schwab (Linda) of Jerseyville; step-daughters, Stella Hughes (Tom-Deceased) of Shipman and Margene Rushing (Ray) of Alton; step-son, Jerry Dunn (Mabel) of Fayettville, NC; 8 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 5 step great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; sisters, Edna Jamison, Velma Fones both of Carlinville and several nieces and nephews.
Iola was preceded in death by her husband, John Dunn; son, Fred Eugene Schwab; four brothers, Jerry, Charles, Harry and Arthur Crays; four sisters, Alice Rhodes, Dorothy Henson, Delores Crays and Gladis Crays; three grandchildren; Teresa (Schwab) Devening, Angela Crotchett and Sherry Schwab. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 10 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Shipman Cemetery Shipman, IL. Donations Information
