Obituary of Jean Dowland

Jean Dowland 60, of Chesterfield, gave up her 26 month battle with cancer surrounded by family and friends on Sunday morning, July 22, 2012 at her residence in Chesterfield, IL. Jean was born on February 4, 1952 to Ralph and Rose (Puklich) Knudson in Bismark, ND. She was a 1970 graduate of Carlinville High School and later received her LPN license in Springfield, IL. Jean married Derel Dowland on December 3, 1976 at the Macoupin County Court House in Carlinville. Jean was an LPN for 35 years. She loved being with her grandchildren, enjoyed flowers and going for rides in their dune buggy. Jean also loved to gamble and go to Casino's, as well as travel outside of the country. She had a special love for her dog Bruce. Jean is survived by her husband Derel; daughter, Debbie L. Huff (Bryan) of Chesterfield, IL; son, Steve Mosby (Jennifer) of Carlinville; 4 grandsons Alex Huff (Megan), Derek Huff, Caleb Huff and Brendon Mosby; granddaughter, Lexi Mosby; great granddaughter, Brynna Jean Huff; father, Ralph E. Knudson (companion, Vivian Wiseman); mother, Rose Knudson; brother - Gary Knudson (Jenny) of Hankinson ND; sister, RoseAnn Phelps (Mark) of Shipman; half sister, Cheryl Lucas (Rick) of Alton, IL; and several nieces and nephews, Dennis, Wendy, Brandy, Mindy, Ann, Quint, Nathanael, Jennifer, Daniel, Justin, Jessica and Andrea. Funeral Information Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 25, 2012 at 10:00 am at the Funeral Home with Pastor Maryann Brownlee officiating. Burial will follow in Chesterfield Cemetery.
