Walt Derringer
born Walter George Wotherspoon 84, of Springfield, formerly of Girard, died Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
He was born Thursday, August 27, 1925 in Benld, IL. His parents were James and Dolly (Cushman) Derringer.
November, 1943 Walter joined the Navy and spent thirty months in the Pacific during W.W. #2. After his discharge, Walter married Eileen (Weller) on November 26, 1947 in Carlinville, IL.
Walt had worked for C.A. Dawson & Co. in the plumbing and heating department as the manager and later worked at L&M Supply and Girard Hardware for several years. Walt enjoyed being employed by Coldwell Banker Reality Company as an agent.
He was a member of the Girard Methodist, Virden American Legion Post #386, Masonic Lodge #616 in Woodson, Ansar Shrine, and Scottish Rite Valley of Springfield, IL.
Survivors: Wife, Eileen Derringer, Daughters, Beverly Derringer, (husband Tim Bottomley) of Arvada, CO, Teresa Hoffacker (husband Ken) of Bloomington, IL, Jan Brewer (husband Larry) of Chatham, IL, 4 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren, Sister, Mary Johnston (husband Stan) of Chatham, IL, Sister, Betty Junk (husband Paul) of Tucson, AZ.
He was preceded in death by parents and sister Raphelle. Funeral Information
Graveside service will be held, 2:00 P.M., Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Girard Cemetery in Girard, IL with Rev. Milton Bost officiating. Donations Information
