Obituary of Robert Lewis Deck

Robert Lewis Deck 82, of Girard, passed away Thursday afternoon, March 14, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. Robert was born on October 9, 1930 to Lewis Wyman and Naomi(Parks) Deck in Girard, IL. He graduated from Girard High School with the class of 1948 and from the University of Illinois College of Pharmacy in 1952. Robert served in the Korean War from 1953 to 1955 as a Corporal. Robert was a registered pharmacist and co-owner of Decks Drug Store in Girard. The drug store was started in 1884 by his grandfather and Robert worked there for over 40 years plus, retiring in 2001. He was a member of Parkway Christian Church in Springfield, IL, as well as a member of Guy Baird American Legion Post #544, the American Pharmacists Association, Illinois Pharmacists Association, National Association of Retail Druggists, Chairman of the Girard Library Board, Macoupin County Historical Society, Secretary of the Girard Community Center, Girard Chamber of Commerce and the Girard High School Alumni Association. Robert is survived by his brother, Wyman P. "Bill" Deck of Farmersville, IL and many friends. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Naomi Deck. Funeral Information Visitation will be held Monday, March 18, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard, IL. Graveside funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at 11:00 am at Girard Cemetery with Rev. Robert Ernst and Rev. John Huxtable, officiating.
