Richard L. "Rick" Allen



passed away on Friday, April 10, 2009 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Rick was the son of Gene F. and Sandy (Sherburn) Allen. He was born in Carlinville, IL on November 19, 1956, he was 52 years old.


His mother passed away in 1995. Rick married Roxane Jennings in 1987, they divorced later.


Rick was a union finish carpenter in the Springfield area. He had also worked in the Girard and Virden areas. Rick was responsible for drawing the plans and the remodeling of the Oak Leaf Country Club in Girard.


He loved his sons and grandson, enjoyed playing golf, riding his Harley and the St. Louis Cardinals. Rick graduated in 1974 from Auburn High School.


Survivors include his father, Gene Allen of Girard, IL, sons, Eric Allen, fiancée Lindsey McKarnen of Girard, IL and Andrew Allen of Girard and Atlanta GA., grandson, Bladen Allen and companion Donna Beeman, Virden, IL.


Also surviving is sister Jeanne Miller, husband David of Jacksonville, IL, nephew Dustin Miller and niece Tara Miller. Funeral Information



Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at 6:00 P.M. at the Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard, IL. Rev. Tom Ford will officiate.

Family and friends are invited to the Oak Leaf Country Club for a meal after the service.


Visitation will be Tuesday, April 14, 2009 from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
