Duane Eldon Coffey
71, of Hettick, passed away Wednesday morning, February 29, 2012 at Caseyville Nursing and Rehab Center, Caseyville, IL.
Duane was born on December 20, 1940 to Clarence and Lora (Witt) Coffey west of Hettick, IL. Duane married Lucy Mae Becker on July 3, 1964 at St. Michael's Church in Greenfield, IL.
Duane worked for several area farmers before and after his employment with Glass Works Company in Alton, IL. He worked at Glass Works from 1965 until the plant closing in 1982. Duane was custodian at Northwestern Schools until 1997, after which he worked on construction jobs with his son Scott. From 2005 until his retirement in 2009 he worked for Coffey Construction Company owned and operated by his son Paul Coffey. Duane enjoyed horseback riding, 4-wheeling, fishing and spending time with his family and many friends.
Duane is survived by his wife, Lucy Mae; 2 daughters, Jean McCarthy (Bob) of St. Louis, MO and Ruth Tejada (Bobby) of Collinsville, IL; 2 sons, Scott Coffey (Ginny) of Greenfield and Paul Coffey (Kara) of Modesto; 6 Grandchildren, Zachary Bethel of Collinsville, Dakota and McKenzie Coffey of Greenfield, Elmarie Burkhead of Maryville and Maddax and Taze Coffey of Modesto; 3 step grandchildren, Jared, Rachel and Eric Tejada all of Troy, IL; brother, Edward Coffey (Jane) of Springfield, IL and sister, Phyllis Banuelos (Jose) of Lyons, IL. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 2, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 10:30 am at the funeral home with Rev. Jim Allen officiating.
Burial will take place in the Hettick Cemetery. Donations Information
