Vivian L. Chandler

Vivian Leona Chandler, 87, of Carlinville, died Monday, September 20, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center.

She was born Thursday, May 3, 1923 in Pittsfield, Illinois, the Daughter of the late William M. and Grace V. (Cox) Hall. She married Morris Lee Chandler in Jacksonville, Illinois on June 8, 1945. He preceded her in death on April 22, 1969.

Vivian attended schools in Pike County, graduating from Milton High School. Then she attended college at Western Illinois University and Illinois State University, graduating from there.

She taught school and was a school librarian for 27 years, and was a librarian at Blackburn College in Carlinville for 12 years.She then worked at the Public Library in Carlinville for nearly 9 years.

She was a member of the Milton Christian Church and later the Memorial Christian Church in Carlinville.

Vivian belonged to the Retired Teachers Association, the Macoupin County Historical Society, and several Genealogical Associations. Her hobbies were flower gardening, working on family history, her grandchildrens activities, reading, baking and making candy, and dancing.

Chandler (Rebecca) of Port Orchard, WA, Granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Knoedler (Justin) of Springfield, IL, Sister, Meredith Kosek of Lemont, IL, 2 Nieces, 1 Great-niece and 3 Great-nephews. Visitation: 9:00 to 11:00 A.M., Thursday, September 23 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville.

Services: 11:00 A.M., Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home. Rev. Martin Miller will officiate.
