of Carlinville, died Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Carlinville Rehab Center at the age of 85. He was born April 27, 1923, one of 7 children born to John and Bertie (Hughes) Carty. Pierce married Marion Pruitt, May 15, 1953 in Carlinville, IL.

He was the owner and operator of Carty Construction and Backhoe Service until 1993 when he retired. Pierce enjoyed fishing and driving his Ford Model A in local parades. His true passion was horses and mules. He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church and the Macoupin Historical Society. Pierce served his country during World War II in the Army.


Surviving family members are: wife Marion.

Sons: Glen Carty wife (Sharon) of Carlinville

Raymond Carty wife (Elaine) of Hannibal, MO

Grandchildren:

Chad Carty wife(Crystal), Devan Carty, Brooke Gheens husband(Jeff) and Heather Hampton husband (Matt)

His grandson Rev. Chad Carty will preside our his funeral service which will be held, Tuesday, July 22, 2008 11:00 A.M. at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carlinville.

Family and friends may call at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville, Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Burial will be in Prairie Lawn Cemetery where military honors will be offered by the Guy Baird American Legion Post #554. Donations Information
