Joan Carey

Joan Carey, 59, of Carlinville, died Monday, June 1, 2009 at her residence.

She was born Friday, June 10, 1949 in Bloomington, IL, the daughter of the late John E. and Florence ( Erbe) Carey.

Joan graduated from Bloomington High School, class of 1967 and attended Illinois Central College in East Peoria, IL,SIU at Carbondale, IL, and the University of South Florida at the Tampa Campus. Joan earned an Associates Degree in Physical Education.

She had worked for the Carlinville Primary School in the Custodial Department and previously was the maintenance director for the St Petersburg Mental Health. Joan was a courier for the St. Petersburg Times Newspaper. She also had been employed at Beaver Dam State Park and Kahl's Greenhouse. She was the first female apprentice for General Electric in Bloomington, IL.

Joan loved gardening, music, animals as well as working on the computer. Joan also played college basketball.

Survivors: Life partner, Bonnie Rauzi of Carlinville, IL, Daughter, Leah Rauzi of Carlinville, IL, Son, Tom Rauzi of Carlinville, IL, Sister, Ginnie Boston (Roland) of Carlinville , IL, Sister, Dessie Coyle (Mick) Hayworth, IL. Brother, Bruce Carey (Betty) of Athens, IL. sisters, Violet, Viola, and Lucy, Stepmother Violet Carey, and several nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents, 3 brothers, Eddie & Ben Carey and Frank Dees Jr. Funeral Information

Family and friends may call at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M., Thursday, June 4th. A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 P.M., following visitation. Donations Information
