Russell D Byers 65, of Farmersville, died Thursday, March 4, 2010 at his residence. He was born Sunday, November 26, 1944 in Tuscola, IL, one of ten children of Harold and Dorothy (Sparenberg) Byers. He married Ruth A. (Heaton) at the First Baptist Church in Litchfield, IL. on June 4, 1966. He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School, class of 1962. Russell retired in 2005 after 26 years at Panhandle Eastern Pipeline in Glenarm as a heavy equipment operator. Russell served his country during the Korean Conflict in the Army. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church. Past member of the Masonic Lodge in Virden and Hurst, IL and served as the Past Master. Russell was a past member of the Farmersville Fire Dept. and the Farmersville-Waggoner Ambulance Squad. Russell was currently serving as the Vice Commander of the Everett C. Burton American Legion Post #701 in Waggoner. He loved to fish, hunt, camp and was a great follower of NASCAR. His true passion was his family and grandkids. Survivors: Wife, Ruth A. of Farmersville, IL, Daughter, Ronda Folkerts of Springfield, IL, Son, Richard Byers of Springfield, IL, Son, Brian Byers (Amy) of Waggoner, IL, Grandchildren, Luke & Lauren Folkerts,, Morgan & Madison Byers, Sister, Linda Heaton of Litchfield, IL, Sister, Sharon Holder (Bob) of Raymond, IL, Sister, Karen Linder (Chuck) of St. Charles, IL, Brother, Roger Byers (Vicki) of Carterville, IL, Brother, Randy Byers (Patti) of Chula Vista, CA, Sister, Debbie Woods (Bill) of Centralia, IL, Brother, Rodney Byers (Jackie) of Goreville, IL, Raymond Byers (Debbie), Kentucky. He was preceded in death by Parents, Infant Daughter, Robin Byers, and Sister, Bonnie Birchfield and Son-In Law Mark Folkerts. Funeral Information Friends may call from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M., Sunday, March 7 at the Pleasant Hill Christian Church in rural Raymond where Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Monday, March 8, 2010 at the church. He will be laid to rest in Rovey Cemetery, rural Farmersville, IL Graveside honors will be provided by American Legion Post #701 of Waggoner. Donations Information Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post #701of Waggoner or Montgomery County Cancer Association.
