Marian Louise Briegel
106, of Carlinville passed away Sunday morning, December 14, 2014, at Heritage Manor in Carlinville, IL.
Marian was born September 8, 1908, in Nokomis, IL, the daughter of Jess and Ada (Tiek) Robertson.
She married Wilson "Ace" Briegel August 10, 1930 in an airplane over Springfield, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Wilson Ace Briegel in October 1991 and brother, Kenneth Robertson in 1988.
Marian graduated from Nokomis High School with the class of 1927 and attended Browns Business College in Decatur for one year.
Marian retired as a clerk at Rushtons Varity Store on the square in Carlinville and was employed from 1951 to 1975. Marian was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, B.P.W. and the Macoupin County Historical Society all in Carlinville. At the time of her death she was the oldest living member of the church. Family and friends may call Tuesday, December 16, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 am, Wednesday,December 17, 2014 at Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery in Carlinville.
She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery.
Surviving are her daughter, Barbara J. McCormick of Carlinville, IL, granddaughter, Sharon (Jim) Kelmel of Morrisonville, IL, grandson, Kenneth (Susie) McCormick of Virden, IL, great grandchildren, Rachel Bethard, Blake McCormick, & Trenton Quarton, 3 great great grandchildren.
