Obituary of Barbie Lewis

Barbara "Barbie" Lewis, 85, of Carlinville, IL, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023, at her residence in Carlinville, IL. Barbie was born January 1, 1938, in Bloomington, IL, a daughter of Arthur and Lillian Turner Lewis. Barbie was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Lewis, mother, Lillian Lewis, 3 brothers and 1 sister. Barbie loved to watch the Golden Girls on TV, ice cream and especially going out for ice cream treats. She worked at Illinois Valley in Gillespie, IL. Barbie was full of life and had a contagious smile. She loved going to MCDD Camp GoodTimes and enjoyed listening to country music and dancing. She lived at Locust Street Resource Center's residential home for over 30 years. The staff and her housemates were like family to her. A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 6:00 pm, Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Macoupin Center for Developmentally Disabled, 700 E Elm St, Carlinville, IL. Barbie is survived by her brother, Raymond Lewis of Carlinville, IL, sister, Mary Lindgren of Carlinville, IL, several nieces and nephews, as well as housemates Laura and Alice, who will greatly miss her. Memorials may be made to Locust Street Resource Center CILA Homes. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville, is in charge of arrangements.
