Reba A. Borman, 96, of Carlinville, passed away Thursday morning, March 24, 2016 at her residence in rural Carlinville, IL. Reba was born on January 14, 1920 to Reed and Augusta (Mefford) Clark in Hagaman, IL. She graduated from Hettick High School in 1937, as well as Western Illinois University, receiving her teaching degree. Reba married Byron Borman in June 1941 in Kansas and he preceded her in death on May 9, 2012. Reba's lifelong dream was to be a mother and a teacher. She began her teaching career at Laurel Hill School in 1939 and served as Principal at Hettick Elementary until 1948. Reba taught in the one room Chisholm School until 1957 when she began teaching in Carlinville at the South School and eventually Middle School and High School until her retirement in 1976. She was an active member of Home Extension beginning in 1948, serving as a President of the Macoupin County chapter for two years. She was also a member of the professional fraternity Alpha Delta Kappa and a long time member of Charity Baptist Church. Reba is survived by two daughters, Dee Ann (Michael) Cook of Brandon, FL and Joy Lea (Richard) Rodgers of Valrico, FL; two grandsons, Robert Rodgers and Nicholas Rodgers; granddaughter, Christine Cook; 3 great grandchildren; sister, Loretta Jarrett of Chatham, IL, as well as several nieces and nephews. Reba was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Byron Borman and a sister, Lorene Reilley. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 28, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville, IL. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 10:30 am at the funeral home with Rev. Dan Johnson, officiating. Burial will follow in Charity Cemetery, rural Carlinville. Memorials are suggested to the Carlinville Public School Foundation or Charity Cemetery. Online condolences can be given at www.davisandersonfuneralhome.com.
