Eunice Opper Adcock, 82, of Nilwood, finished her earthly journey on Saturday evening, February 27, 2016 and is now in the presence of her heavenly father. Eunice was born on July 12, 1933 to Raymond and Viola (Smith) Landrus in Varna, IL. She graduated from Chenoa High School with the class of 1951. On July 20, 1952 she married Rev. Fred Opper in Chenoa, Il and he preceded her in death in July of 1959. Eunice later married Perry Adcock on October 7, 1977 in Carlinville. He also preceded her in death in May of 1991. Eunice worked at Weatherford Nursing Home in Carlinville as the activities director, bookkeeper, and later was the administrator until retirement in 1992. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carlinville, teaching Sunday school and working with the kitchen committee. Eunice loved to travel, read, sew, and cook for her family. Eunice is survived by her two sons, Randy (Laura) Opper of Broken Arrow, OK and Darrell (Dana) Opper of Arlington, TX; two daughters, Connie Opper of Carlinville, IL and Dixie (Mark) Sloman of Girard, IL; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Alice Carpenter of Nashville, TN; four brothers, Edward (Carolyn) Landrus of Charlotte, NC, Harold (Susan) Landrus of Cleveland, TN, Raymond Landrus of St. Louis, MO and Gilbert (Jean) Landrus of Normal, IL; sister-in-laws, Wilma Adcock of Girard, IL and Ruth Wolf (Louis) of Carlinville, IL; several nieces and nephews. Eunice was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, 1 sister and 3 brothers. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2016, from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville, IL. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at 10:00 am at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Carlinville, IL, with Rev. Cliff Woodman, officiating. Burial will take place in the Oak Wood Cemetery in Greenfield, IL. Memorials are suggested to the Emmanuel Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
