Donald L. Hoover Sr., 84, of Carlinville, passed away Wednesday afternoon, December 9, 2015 at Heritage Health Care in Carlinville, IL. Don was born on April 27, 1931 to Walter and Nola (Snarr) Hoover in Alton, IL. He served as a Private in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a Purple Heart recipient. Don then married Martha True on March 27, 1954 in Carlinville. Don was an inspector for Temple Steel in Chicago for 36 years, retiring in 1993. After retirement, he and his wife, Martha moved back to Carlinville. He loved working in his garage, repairing guns and tinkering. Don will be missed by his family and friends. Don is survived by his wife, Martha Hoover of Carlinville; two sons, Donald L. (Paula) Hoover Jr. of Houston, TX and Richard A. (Linda) Hoover of Bristol, WS; two grandsons, Mitchell Hoover of Mt. Pleasant, MI and John Hoover of Houston, TX; one great granddaughter, Madelyn Elizabeth Hoover of Mt. Pleasant, MI; sister, Nola Lutz of Alton, IL; brother, Walther L. (Janet) Hoover Jr. of WI, as well as several nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents. Graveside memorial services will be conducted at Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Donor's Choice.
