James R. Wood, 82, of Hettick, IL, formerly of Alton, IL, passed away Monday morning, December 7, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. James was born on May 5, 1933 to Roy and Blanche C. (Woods) Wood in Alton, IL. He worked as a machinist for Olin Brass in Alton, IL for 42 years, retiring in April 1994. He was also a member of the Alton Eagles Lodge. James is survived by his daughter, Darlene (Mike) Smith of Meadowbrook, IL; daughter, Shirley Boomershine of Alton, IL; son, Richard (Michelle) Boomershine of LA; daughter, Jewel (Craig) Smith of OK; daughter, Theodsia "Teddy" (Everett) Mathis of Hettick, IL; son, Mark Wood of LA; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Ella Darr of Jerseyville, IL and a brother, Paul Wood of MI. James was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Theresa Wilson, as well as 3 brothers and 8 sisters. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville with a memorial service following at 11:00 at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Toys for Tots. Online condolences can be given at www.davisandersonfuneralhome.com. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville is in charge of arrangements.
