Obituary of Darrell Louis Bellm

Darrell Louis Bellm 62 of Carlinville, passed away Sunday evening, August 24, 2014 at his residence in rural Carlinville, IL. Darrell was born on October 31, 1951 one of 4 boys to Walter and Barbara (Joiner) Bellm in Litchfield, IL. He graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1970. On May 18, 1973 he married Karen Harms at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Carlinville and she survives. Darrell worked for 30 years at Monterey Coal Company in Carlinville as a general laborer, as well as a self-employed entrepreneur owning several businesses. Darrell was an auctioneer from 1978-1993, ran an insulation business, sold real estate for Perrings-Pritchard, ran Sani-Systems from 1988-2007 and owned and operated the Bowlero Lanes in Carlinville from 2007 to present. He was a member of Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church, United Mine Workers #1613, was a past Precinct Committeeman for Carlinville 3rd Ward and served on the Macoupin County Board for over 20 years, retiring in 2010. Darrell was also a member of the Carlinville Knights of Columbus Council 663 where he was a past Grand Knight and a 4th Degree member of the Bishop Joseph A. McNicholas Assembly. Darrell is survived by his wife, Karen Bellm of Carlinville; daughter, Dawn (Shawn) McFarland of Carlinville; son, Aaron (Deidra) Bellm of Carlinville; 3 grandchildren, Joselyn, Gage and Zander; 3 brothers, Donald (Toni) Bellm of Asheville, NC, David Bellm of Wood River, IL, Ray (Gina) Bellm of Carlinville, IL, as well as several nieces and nephews. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Information Visitation will be held Thursday, August 28, 2014 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church in Carlinville with a prayer service following at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 29, 2014 at 10:00 am at Ss Mary & Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Angel Sierra, and Deacon Scott Joiner officiating. Burial will follow in New Calvary Cemetery. Donations Information Memorials are suggested to the Macoupin Center for the Developmentally Disabled or Ss Mary and Joseph Church Building Fund.
