Wilma Jean Schwab Obituary

Wilma Jean Schwab, 89, of Carlinville, IL, passed away on Sunday evening, August 2, 2026, at Copper Creek Memory Care in Litchfield, IL.


Wilma was born August 13, 1936, in Alto Pass, IL, a daughter of Rudolph Bittle and Marjorie (Allen) Bittle. She graduated from Cobden High School with the class of 1954. Wilma attended Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, where she graduated with her bachelor's degree in education. She married her first husband, Dean Ogden, in 1955 in Mississippi, he preceded her in death on October 2, 1977. She later married Bill Schwab in 1980, he also preceded her in 2013.


Wilma was a special education teacher for the Litchfield School District for her entire teaching career. She spent over twenty years helping many children learn and grow. Her passion for learning and compassion for everyone around her made Wilma the perfect fit for teaching.


Outside of her time in a classroom, she enjoyed quilting and was a very talented seamstress. She also enjoyed traveling to many different places around the country.



Wilma attended Union Avenue Christian Church while she lived in Litchfield.


Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Dean Ogden, second husband, Bill Schwab, daughter, Stephanie Ogden, great-granddaughter Kylie Jo Millburg, sister, Katrina Bittle, sister-in-law, Kay Bittle and brother-in-law, Charles Flamm.


Visitation will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, 260 Woodlawn Dr., Carlinville, IL.


A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Cedar Ridge Cemetery, Litchfield, IL with Rev. Steve Schmidt, officiating.


Burial will follow in Cedar Ridge Cemetery, Litchfield, IL.


Wilma is survived by her son, Eric (Lisa) Ogden of Carlinville, IL, son, Gary (Fran) Ogden of Carlinville, IL, son, Jack (Penny) Schwab of Carlinville, IL, daughter, Dawn Geninatti, 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, brother, Don Bittle, sister, Virginia Flamm, as well as many nieces and nephews.


Memorials may be made to Royal Family Kids Camp of Macoupin and Montgomery County.
