Hazel Beryl (King) Emery, 99, passed away on Friday evening, July 31, 2026 at Lakeside Rehab in Carlinville, Illinois, with family by her side.

Hazel was born October 1, 1926, to Walter Ross and Prudence Melinda (Minder) King in Zanesville township, Waggoner, Illinois. She graduated from Waggoner High School in 1944.

On April 9, 1950, Hazel married Paul Raymond Emery in Waggoner, Illinois.

They lived on the farm on Atwater Rd. and raised their six children as well as chickens, cows, sheep, hogs, dogs, cats, and various other creatures brought in by their children:

Walter E. (Bernadette) of Riverton, Illinois, John C. (Mary) of Atwater, Illinois, Linda K. (Nelson) Jones of Urbana, Illinois, Carl E. (Kylia) Emery of Carlinville, Illinois, Sharon K. (Frank) Bates of Carlinville, Illinois, and Paul W. (Mary) Emery of Glenarm, Illinois.

Hazel was quite fond of playing Chinese Checkers against her grandchildren and winning most of the time! She always had a big garden, loved driving the car, attending church, going to club meetings with her lady friends and playing Spellbound on WSMI.

She always had a smile on her face and never a mean thought about anyone or anything. On Sundays, after church, there was always pot roast, carrots, potatoes, and celery that all family enjoyed.

She leaves behind 6 children, 18 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, brothers, Glenn, Irvine, and Lyndle King, and grandson Jason Ross Emery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday August 4, 2026 from 9:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, 260 Woodlawn Drive Carlinville, IL 62626

Funeral services will be held Tuesday August 4th, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home,

Rev. Cliff Woodman, officiating.

Burial will follow in Bethel Ridge Cemetery Atwater, Illinois
