With heavy hearts, we relate the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Carol L. Paul, 82, of Carlinville, Illinois. Carol passed away at home with family present on Friday afternoon, April 10, 2026, after a valiant and short battle with cancer.

Carol was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Louis H. Huth and Mildred (Perky) Huth on May 10, 1943. She completed high school at Rich East High School in Olympia Fields, Illinois in 1961. Carol attended the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, where she met William D. Gleason. They married on October 26, 1963 and started farming and growing a family in Carlinville, IL. Bill passed on August 4, 1982, and Carol married Ronald Paul on May 14, 1994.

Carol was a co-leader of the 108 4-H Club from 1974-1979 and also a member of the Carlinville School Board from 1982-1984. She worked at the USDA Farm Service Agency from 1983-2003 before retiring to spend more time doing the things she loved. Besides doting on her grandchildren, she loved being a homemaker--decorating, cooking, baking, entertaining, telling stories, and watching her flowers grow. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She had a quick wit and was a lot of fun.

Carol is survived by her spouse, Ron; her children Christopher Gleason (Susan) and Greg Gleason (Karen); Ron’s children Kristy Paul, Becky Paul, and Ronnie Paul; her grandchildren Connor Gleason (Emily), Michael Gleason (Ashley), Bryce Paul, Addison Paul, Justin Paul, Eli Paul, Nicole Mathews, and Shane Mathews; her great-grandchildren Aine Gleason and James Gleason; her brother William Huth (Sandy); and several nieces.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, 9:00 am - 11:00 am at Ss Mary & Joseph Catholic Church, 2010 E. 1st North St., Carlinville, IL 62626.

Funeral Mass will be conducted at 11:00 am, Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Ss Mary & Joseph Catholic Church, Rev. Joseph Koyickal, SAC officiating.

Burial will follow in New Calvary Cemetery, IL Route 4 South, Carlinville, IL.

Memorials in Carol’s memory may be made to Carlinville Area Hospital Foundation or the SIU Simmons Cancer Institute.
