Michael Hesseldenz Obituary
Michael E. Hesseldenz, 82, of Carlinville, IL, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, April 1, 2026, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL.
Mike was born June 7, 1943, in Carlinville, IL, a son of Anthony N. Hesseldenz and Louise Chilton Hesseldenz. He graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1961. Mike married Estelle Nelson on April 17, 1970, in St. Joseph Catholic Church and they spent more than 56 years in love.
Mike was a man of many talents and many jobs. He was a welder, a roofer, an electrician for Whitby electric, and worked at Presslers 'wonderful' Conoco. He spent many years working at Carlinville Area Hospital with the maintenance department then as a lifeline installer and courier. No matter how busy he was with his many jobs Mike always found time to attend church as a member of Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church. He was also a member of American Legion Post #554. Mike was a train enthusiast, enjoyed wood working, and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: William, Robert, and James Hesseldenz; and a sister, Katherine Mabus.
Prayer Service will be held prior to visitation at 3:45 pm at Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church, Carlinville, IL.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church, Carlinville, IL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 am, Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church, Carlinville, IL.
Burial will follow in New Calvary Cemetery, Carlinville, IL.
Mike is survived by his wife, Estelle A. Hesseldenz of Carlinville, IL; daughter, Stacy (Ron) Gross of Carlinville, IL; son, Anthony W. (Tabetha Barto) Hesseldenz of Freeman, MO; daughter, Tina (Jeff) Davey of O'Fallon, MO; five grandchildren; five step grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Hesseldenz Trump; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also left behind to remember Mike are the members of the Hardee's coffee crew and the remaining members of the class of '61.
