Vyolet "Vy" Talbert, 76, of Carlinville, passed away Friday, March 27, 2026, at Carlinville Rehab and Health Care in Carlinville.

Vyolet was born on June 12, 1949, to Freeman and Ocie (Walker) Thompson in Ashland, IL.

Vyolet was a 1967 graduate of Girard High School. On October 1, 2005, Vy married Larry E. Talbert at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carlinville. She dedicated her life serving people and her community. Vy was a dispatcher for the Carlinville Police Department for over 25 years, retiring on February 18, 2018. She also served as an EMT for the Carlinville Ambulance Department. Vy was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carlinville, liked to crochet, paint, cook, and enjoyed playing bingo.

"Vy" is survived by her husband Larry of Carlinville, IL; son, Cody Lavenduskey of Gillespie, IL; grandson, Hunter Lavenduskey of Carlinville, IL; two sisters, Jeanette (Charles) Baker of Carlinville, IL and Star Sullivan of Kuttawa, KY; three brothers, Matthew (Debbie) Thompson of Belleville, IL, Andrew (Mary Parks) Thompson of Ashland, IL, and James Clevenger of Alton, IL; several nieces and nephews.

"Vy" was preceded in death by her parents, Freeman Willard and Oci Ida Thompson, brother, Wayne Thompson, sister, Velda Sue Thompson, and brother-in-law, Robert Sullivan.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the Emmanuel Baptist Church Activity Center Chapel, Carlinville, IL.

A Celebration of Life will follow visitation at 11:00 am at the Emmanuel Baptist Church Activity Center Chapel, Carlinville, IL, with Reverend Cliff Woodman, officiating.

Memorials are suggested to either the Lunch Bunch or the Food Pantry.
