Gladys Carolyn Broadhead, 86, of Virden, IL, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Sunrise Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Virden, IL.
Gladys was born March 1, 1939, in Quincy, IL, a daughter of William and Caroline (Golden) Davidson. Gladys graduated from Berry High School with the class of 1957. She later received her bachelor's degree as an English major from Illinois College in 1961 where she was a member of Chi Beta literary society. She married Douglas "Doug" Broadhead on August 16, 1964, in Virden, IL. She went to University of Illinois, Springfield graduating with her master's degree.
Gladys was an English teacher for both Virden High School and Junior High. She worked for 31 years before retiring in 1994. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Society of Illinois. Gladys was active in Virden United Methodist Church's society.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Lynn Davidson.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Gladys is survived by her husband, Douglas "Doug" E. Broadhead of Virden, IL, son, Michael R. (Kristen) Broadhead of Palm Harbour, FL, son, Patrick L. (Sil) Broadhead of Boca Raton, FL, four grandsons, Hunter, Logan, Luca and Ben Broadhead, and several cousins.
Memorials may be made to Virden United Methodist Church, and Delta Kappa Gamma Society of Illinois.
