Marilyn Joan Best, 90, of Carlinville, passed away Saturday evening, December 20, 2025 at her daughter's home in Carlinville, surrounded by her loving family.
Marilyn was born on January 5, 1935 to Ivan and Lillian (Bouillon) Tetzlaff in Carlinville, IL.
Marilyn attended the Oakland School thru the 8th grade, then Carlinville High School, where she graduated in 1952. One year later, on June 14, 1953, she married Carlan M. Best at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Carlinville. He preceded her in death on October 13, 2013, after 60 years of marriage. Marilyn actively worked along side her husband, Carlan on their farm. She was also very active in her church, St. Paul's United Church of Christ, where she was a longtime Sunday School teacher, director of the Last Supper Pageant, and served as coordinator of many, many funeral dinners. Marilyn was also involved in the American Legion Auxiliary and Home Extension. She loved her cardinals, both the song bird and the baseball team. She approached life with a ready smile, familiar to all who knew her, and cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren as they did her.
Marilyn is survived by her three daughters; Bev (Kurt) Neuhaus of Carlinville, IL, Marjie (partner, Mark Alvarado) Best of Chicago, IL, and Amy (Rick) Rosentreter of Carlinville, IL; granddaughter, Jaime (Stephen) Boswell; three grandsons, Ryan (Margo) Sexton, Logan (companion, Beth Warden) Rosentreter, and Lonny (companion, Emma Ruffini) Rosentreter; 6 great-grandchildren; Ella, Marin, Mae, Hudson, Luca, and Nolan; sister-in-law, Mag Tetzlaff of Carlinville, IL; several nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was preceded in death by parents, Ivan Eugene and Lillian Tetzlaff, husband, Carlan M. Best, brothers, Lloyd Charles, Gerald, and Dean Tetzlaff.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2025, from 9:00 am - 11:00 am at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 202 E. Main Street, Carlinville, IL.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Carlinville, IL, with Pastor Eddie Burton officiating.
Burial will take place in Moore Cemetery, rural Carlinville.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to either St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Macoupin Center for the Developmentally Disabled, or to the Donor's Choice.
