Donald Paul Turnbull, 78, of Girard, formerly of Illiopolis, IL, passed away Sunday evening, October 19, 2025 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.

Don was born on June 26, 1947 to Donald and Elizabeth (Marolf) Turnbull in Decatur, IL. On December 11, 1976 he married Sandra Kay "Sandy" Evans in Illiopolis, IL.

Directly after graduating from Illiopolis High School in 1965, Don enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After serving his country in Vietnam, Don returned home and started working at Turnbull Excavating with his family. He later worked at Prairie International, ADM, and finished his career as a diesel mechanic for Truck Centers. Don enjoyed fishing, boating, camping and spending quality time with his family.

Donald is survived by his wife Sandy; four daughters, Michelle Turnbull of CA, Vicky (Drew) McMahon of Taylorville, IL, Mary Ellen (fiance, Bob Finley) Muir of Bourbon, MO, and Marcy (fiancee, Lester Dickey) Montgomery of Taylorville, IL; son, Rex (Teresa) Muir of Buffalo, IL; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; brother, James "Jim" Turnbull of Illiopolis, IL; 1 niece, 1 nephew, and numerous cousins.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Donald William and Elizabeth Turnbull; sister-in-law, Rita Turnbull; nephew, Brian Turnbull.

Visitation will be held Monday, October 27, 2025, from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, 223 N. 3rd Street, Girard, IL.

A Celebration of Life will follow visitation at 7:00 pm at the Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard
