Norma LaRee Lay, 97, of Girard, IL, passed away on Wednesday morning, October 15, 2025, in Springfield, IL.

Norma was born January 20, 1928, in Girard, IL, a daughter of Adam and Bertha (Brubaker) Weddle. Norma graduated from Girard High School with the class of 1946. She married Theodore "Ted" Lay on May 30, 1946, in Girard, IL.

Norma was a medical reporter for Dr. H. H. Finney and North Macoupin Health for 19 years and then St. John's Hospital in Springfield for 10 years. She retired in 1995. Norma was a member of the Church of the Brethren, the Girard Women's Club and the Macoupin County Home Extension. Norma enjoyed gardening, reading and playing with her dogs.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Eldred "Burr" Weddle, brother, Curt Weddle, and son in law, Joe Vann.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025, from 11:00 to Noon at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard, IL.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 12:00 pm, Monday, October 27, 2025 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard.

Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Girard.

Norma is survived by her son, Theodore William (Gayle) Lay, II of Suffolk, VA, daughter, Berta Cottom of Terre Haute, IN, daughter, Becky Vann of Moline, IL, and daughter, Brenda (Ernie) Lonas of Champaign, IL, 12 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, brother, Lynn Weddle of St. Charles, IL, several nieces and nephews.
