Edith I. Baker, 86 of Medora, IL, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Carlinville Rehab & Health Care in Carlinville, IL.

Edith was born August 4, 1939, in Palmyra, IL, a daughter of Harvey Wallis and Genevieve (Roland) Young. Edith attended Palmyra High School and also Oak Hill School. She married Richard Baker on January 12, 1956, in Palmyra, IL.

Edith was a nurse's aide at St. Anthony's home health in Alton, IL. She was a lovely nurse, always taking care of those in need. She continued this work at St. Joseph's Hospital in Alton and at Carlinville Area Hospital. Though her caretaking skills were wonderful, she also had other passions in life.

Edith loved to sew and attend flea markets. Somehow she always managed to find the best deals. Edith also enjoyed the outdoors, where she would spend her time fishing. She was always tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. Which grew delicious food and vibrant, beautiful blossoms.

Edith loved her family most of all, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren was her greatest joy.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, David Wallis.

Private Family Services will be held at a later date.

Edith is survived by her husband, Richard L. Baker of Medora, IL, daughter, Cindy J. (David) Frueh of Medora, IL, son, Richard R. (Yvone) Baker of Bunker Hill, IL, son, Randy Baker of Meadow Brook, IL, nine grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.
