Dirley Jean Pitchford, 72 of Thayer, IL, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Lakeside Health Care in Carlinville, IL.

Dirley was born May 15, 1953, in Springfield, IL, a daughter of Everett Clayton and Alice Maxine Jennings Pitchford. Dirley graduated from Virden High School with the class of 1971. She attended Lincoln Land Community College.

Dirley started working at CIPS//Ameren in the purchasing department in 1976, then became an assistant buyer out of the Springfield office and then went on to Customer Support in 1996 out of the Virden office. She retired in 2020 after 44 years with the company. Dirley was a member of the Church of Christ in Girard and then at Lakeside Church of Christ in Springfield, IL. She was a Sunday School teacher and very active in her church. She was an avid reader, cook and baker with macaroni and cheese and chocolate pies being her specialties. She enjoyed playing cards, watching movies, and spending time with her dear animals.

Dirley was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Richard D. Pitchford.

Visitation for Dirley Jean Pitchford will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025, 10: am - 12 noon at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard, IL.

Funeral Services will be conducted at Davis Anderson Funeral Home in Girard, at noon on Thursday,July 24, 2025, with Elder/friend from church, Art Cornell presiding.

Burial will follow in Union Chapel Cemetery, Girard, IL.

Dirley is survived by brother, Robert D. (Sue) Pitchford of Virden, IL, sister, Viola M. Pitchford of Thayer, IL, sister-in-law, Kim Pitchford of Springfield, IL, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and several dear friends.
