Lois Helen Schmidt Obituary

Lois Helen Schmidt, 80, of Carlinville, IL, passed away Monday, May 19, 2025, at Lakeside Health and Rehab Center in Carlinville, IL.

Lois was born May 14, 1945, in Fort Wayne, IN, a daughter of Walter and Helen (Kramer) Schwane.

Lois graduated from Stewardson-Strasburg High School in 1963 and earned a degree in education from Eastern Illinois University - which is where she also met Norm, the love of her life. Lois and Norm got married on December 17, 1966. After teaching elementary school for a few years, Lois started her most cherished role as a stay-at-home mom. As Becky and Mike got older, she went to work at the Macoupin County Enquirer. Lois had her own antique business for many years with booths at the Lighthouse Antique Mall, where she enjoyed spending much of her time. She also enjoyed birds and flowers, with her yard full of bird feeders and beautiful flowers. Lois’ favorite times were when she was with her family, and she was always involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s activities and attended their events.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
