Geraldine (Gerry) Hazell Albins, 79, of Carlinville, IL, passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in Springfield, IL.

Gerry was born January 15, 1946, in Auburn, NY, the daughter of Harry W. and Hazell Marie Rose Albins.

She was a Professor of Physical Education and Sports Management at Blackburn University for 37 years and retired in 2021. Gerry loved animals, especially cats, and was secretly a talented artist. She was a natural athlete who loved swimming and women’s softball, and in her leisure time enjoyed fishing and attending auctions.

Gerry was a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Jerseyville, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, James Harry Albins.

No services are planned at this time.

Gerry is survived by her brother, Richard Carl (Joy) Albins of Crossville, TN, as well as niece Hillary Albins of New Orleans, LA; nephews Nathaneal Albins of Acton, MA; Joshua Albins of Columbia, SC; and Drew D. Albins of Parkville, MD.
