Please share a memory of Carol to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Carol J. Love, 78 of Jacksonville, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Cedarhurst in Jacksonville, IL.
Carol was born August 14, 1946, in Carlinville, IL, a daughter of William J. and Margaret (Rosentreter) Bloome. Carol graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1964. She married Edwin Eugene Love, on March 25, 1995, in Franklin, IL.
Carol was “quilt-famous,” known for her intricate, colorful quilts, which she gifted to family, newborns, military personnel, church members, hospital patients, and many more. A proud supporter of the armed forces, she co-founded the Franklin-Waverly Military Support Group in honor of her son, sending thousands of care packages to troops overseas.
Her adventurous spirit led her across the country — from cheering at her sons’ football games to camping with her beloved husband to historic sites. She documented her travels in journals, often noting her love for roadside flowers, particularly purple blossoms. Her own garden was a mix of flowers and vegetables, a representation of the woman herself as she was known to be both practical and whimsical.
Carol’s appreciation for history showed in her restoration of antiques and love of historical non-fiction. Professionally ahead of her time, she earned degrees in nursing, psychology, and a master’s in public administration from the University of Illinois, eventually serving as a hospital administrator at Jacksonville Development Center for 30 years.
Above all, Carol’s greatest loves were God, family, and friends. Her teasing nature was her way of showing affection, especially to her sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren. She loved being a “boy mom”, attending ball games, military events, and was very involved in her sons’ endeavors. Her journal is filled with joyful anecdotes of the time she spent with her beloved grandchildren.
Carol first met Ed, the love of her life, in high school. Years later, they reunited and enjoyed 29 wonderful years of marriage, filled with travel, family, and winters in Florida. Their love story now continues in heaven.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband; parents; grandchild, Zachary Sing; and siblings, Carolyn, David, George, Peter, Richard, and Daniel Bloome.
