Obituary of Douglas D. Orr

Douglas D. Orr, 69, of Farmersville, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2025, at his home in Farmersville, IL. Douglas was born September 27, 1955, in Springfield, IL, a son of Donald and Carol Schmidt Orr. Douglas graduated from Lamphier High School with the class of 1973. He married Marsha Vance, on January 12, 1979 at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carlinville, IL. Doug had been employed at the Kincaid Power Plant for 40 years where he retired as a Production Coordinator. He was past mayor of Farmersville, retiring this past January. He had been on the board of trustees for 40 years. Doug mowed 19 yards, bagging them all. He loved gambling, playing golf, putting together puzzles, mowing yards of course,and gatherings with his co-workers especially the retirement breakfasts they enjoyed once a month. He could fix anything mechanical that was broken. He will be greatly missed by those that knew him. Doug was preceded in death by his father and sister, Debbie Orr. Private Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, March 9, 2025 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard, IL . Douglas is survived by his mother, Carol Schmidt-Orr of Henderson, NV, wife, Marsha Orr of Farmersville, IL, daughter, Lindsay (Chris) Arnold of Farmersville, IL, son, Justin (Kirby) Orr of Troy, IL, son, Chris (Laura) Orr of Caseyville, IL, grandchildren; Carter, Carli, Gracie, Kyler, Jake, Kendyll, and Sonny, sister, Denise Orr of Henderson, NV, sister, Diane Winter of Henderson, NV, brother, Daryl Orr of Auburn, IL, several nieces and nephews,and Mollie, his pet Yorkie companion.
