Deborah "Debbie" Kay McDow, 70, of Carlinville, IL, passed away Saturday morning, March 1, 2025, at Carlinville Area Hospital in Carlinville, IL.
Debbie was born September 23, 1954, in Ft. Carson, CO, a daughter of Phillip Gerald and Charlotte Ann (Stinnett) Harms. Debbie graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1972. She married Dwight "Butch" McDow on February 19, 1972, at Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Debbie provided loving care and lasting childhood memories for dozens of children through the home daycare that she ran for more than 12 years. She also served as a cook for Camp Goodtimes and the Macoupin Center for the Developmentally Disabled (MCDD), where students and campers affectionately referred to her as "Cookhead".
Debbie enjoyed working hard and spent countless hours volunteering her time and talents through numerous non-profit organizations and her churches. Debbie loved to meet the needs of others and be an example of God's love. Some of the hobbies that brought her great joy included creating beautiful quilts, baking delicious desserts and meals for neighbors, friends, and family, playing card games, and caring for her pets.️
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 6:00 pm, Friday, March 7, 2025 at The Roads Church, 19453 Hurricane Dr., Carlinville, IL, with an open house fellowship time to follow from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
A private graveside burial for family is scheduled for Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Bethel Ridge Cemetery, Carlinville, IL.️
Debbie is survived by her husband, Dwight "Butch" McDow of Carlinville, IL, son, David (Allie) McDow of Zionsville, IN, daughter, Kelly ( Significant Other Todd McEuen) McDow, granddaughter, Charlotte McDow, brother, Larry (Alice) Harms of Carmi, IL, sister, Joyce (Bryan) Wagoner of Gillespie, IL, and several nieces and nephews.
