Virginia F. Scharfenberg, 100, of Carlinville, Il passed away Thursday afternoon, February 27, 2025, at Lakeside Health Care in Carlinville, IL with her family by her side.
Virginia was born November 9, 1924, in Nilwood, IL, a daughter of Oliver Oscar and Myrtie Mae Adcock Jenkins.
She married Lester "Pete" Scharfenberg April 20, 1941, in St. Charles, MO.
Virginia was owner and teacher at Scharfenberg Beauty Academy in Carlinville and Jacksonville, IL. for several years. Her love of cosmetology was passed down to her daughters who eventually opened up their own businesses.
Virginia was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church where she was very active in various activities. She loved to play the organ and piano, help Lester in the shed his with recycling. Virginia loved to have sleepovers with the grandkids at Christmas time and bake cookies.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Janet Scharfenberg, daughter, Judi Fullington, infant twins, Jennifer Raye and Janice Gaye Scharfenberg.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2025 from 9:00 to 11:00 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carlinville, IL.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at the church.
Burial will follow in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Carlinville.
Virginia is survived by her son, Terry (Joan) Scharfenberg of Jasper, TX, daughter, Jerilyn Roscetti of Carlinville, IL, son, Ted Scharfenberg of Carlinville, IL, daughter, Joyce (Roy) Emmons of Carlinville, IL, daughter, Jo Ann (Companion, Bill Fullington) Burke of Carlinville, IL, 16 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, 60 great great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church Building Fund.
