Marlin Gene Qualls, 84, of Carlinville, passed away Friday morning, April 15, 2022 at Carlinville Area Hospital in Carlinville, IL. Marlin was born on June 14, 1937 to Rollo J. and Margaret (Kreoger) Qualls in South Palmyra, IL. On October 14, 1955 he married Betty Dawson at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carlinville, IL. She preceded him in death on September 17, 2019. Marlin attended Northwestern schools. He was an owner/operator trucker, managing the STL and Briggs Trucking Companies. After retiring from trucking, Marlin worked for Gold Mine Gaming in Carlinville. He enjoyed visiting with people and being on the computer. Marlin is survived by his daughter, Kathy (Darren) Montgomery of Granite City, IL; grandson, Christopher (Samantha) Heminghous of Springfield, IL; four great-grandsons, Johnathan Heminghous, Colton Heminghous, Jaxson Heminghous, Carson Heminghous; several nieces and nephews. Marlin was preceded in death by his parents, Rollo and Margaret Qualls, wives, Betty and Arnita Qualls, brothers, Ralph, Raymond, Roland, and James Qualls, sisters, Donna Mainwaring, Vivian King, Esther West, Grace Lair, Irene Schott, and Rachel Richie. A private graveside memorial service will take place at Girard cemetery on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 11:00 am. Memorials are suggested to the family.
