Richard Dean Lee Yoakum, 67 of Medora, IL passed away Monday evening, January 9, 2017, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Richard was born July 8, 1949, in Wood River, IL, a son of Raymond and Lora (Lampkin) Yoakum. Richard graduated from Civic Memorial High School in Bethalto, IL. After graduation he joined the US Marine Corp. was served in Vietnam. He was discharged in He married Marion Bobbs, August 5, 1984 in Edwardsville, IL and she passed away on his birthday, July 8, 2014. Richard worked for Laclede Steel in Alton, IL from April 1973 to July 2001 as a millright. His greatest enjoyment was his family and working on the farm. Richard collected guns and relaxed by working in his woodworking shop. He will best be remembered for his kind heartedness and helping people. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Marion D. Yoakum, mother, Lora Boulch who passed away a day after Richard on January 10, 2017 and sister, Deborah McHugh. Visitation will be held 10:00am to Noon on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, Illinois with services starting at Noon. Richard is survived by his father, Raymond (Alice) Yoakum of NJ, son, Edwin (Kathy) Mathias, Jr. of Alton, IL, daughter, Karen Mathias of CA, grandson, Richard (Molly) Mathias of Brighton, IL, granddaughter, Pamela Wilberding of Carlinville, IL, 3 Great Grandchildren, sister, Carol Calvert of Cottage Hills, IL, several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Toys for Tots St. Jude's Childrens Hospital. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville is in charge of arrangements.
