Obituary of Donald W. Sutton

Donald W. Sutton, age 79 of Girard, passed away Saturday morning, May 28, 2016, at Vibra Hospital in Springfield, IL. Don was born August 28, 1936, in Carlinville, IL, the only son of Edgar and Mina (Fox) Sutton. Donald graduated from Girard High School with the class of 1954. He married the former Florence (Young) on July 26, 1959, at the Girard United Methodist Church and they enjoyed 56 years of marriage. Don was a grain and livestock farmer his lifetime in the Girard area and also enjoyed working construction. He was a member of the Girard United Methodist Church and the Macoupin County Farm Bureau. Don enjoyed traveling with his family, pulling antique tractors and had a great gift of gab. In his younger days he served as a 4-H leader for his children. Don was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Virginia Strong. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2016, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard, IL. Graveside services will be conducted at 10:30 am, Friday, June 3, 2016 at Union Chapel Cemetery in rural Girard with Revs Rich McElfresh and Mary Alice Cunningham. Burial will be in Union Chapel Cemetery. Donald is survived by his wife, Florence Sutton of Girard, IL, daughter, Kelly (Kenny) Williamson of Girard, IL, son, Allen Sutton of Girard, IL, grandchildren; Allen Sutton, Andrew Williamson, Hunter Sutton, Melissa (David) O'Shea, Beth Sutton, great-grandchildren; Lexie and Audrey O'Shea and sister, Norma (Dan) Clair of Lorraine, IL.
