Josephine Hammann,96 of Carlinville, passed away Thursday morning, May 12, 2016, at Heritage Manor in Carlinville, IL. Josephine was born November 6, 1919, in Benld, IL, one of eight children born to Joseph John and Maria Magdalene (Guriel) Polo. She married Louis G. Hammann, February 24, 1938 in St. Louis, Mo and he passed away October 27, 2005. Josephine lovingly raised three children while helping run the family farm with her husband. She loved to sew, quilt, garden and cherished her time with her grandchildren. Josephine was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Carlinville. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Joseph Polo, sisters; Mary Valko, Bridgett Panis, Suzanne Perrottet, Christina Wheeler, Sophia Minton, daughter-in-law Deanna Hammann and son-in-law Donald Elliott. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2016, from 3:00 to 6:00pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville, IL. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, May 16, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Carlinville with Rev. Debbie Jo Atkins officiating. Burial will follow next to her husband in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Carlinville. Josephine is survived by her son, David Louis Hammann of Carlinville, IL, daughter, Carolyn Elliott of Godfrey, IL, daughter, Connie (Kenneth) Reid of Carlinville, IL, and her grandchildren who lovingly called her "Nana";David Alan (Andrea) Hammann, Jolene Little, Carla Hammann, Brian Atkins, Dana (Craig) Stroup, Todd (Nikole) Salzman, Teresa (Jeff) Griffin, Donald Elliott, Adam (Lyndsi) Reid, Joshua (Tashia) Reid, Jonathan (Maya) Reid, 19 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandsons, sister, Margaret Frensko of Benld, IL, sister-in-law Norma Hammann, Carlinville and numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers are David A. Hammann, Luke Hammann, Brandon Little, Devan Little, Todd Salzman, Adam Reid, Joshua Reid, Jonathan Reid. Memorials may be made to Hoyleton Childrens Home, St. Paul's United Church of Christ or Carlinville Area Hospital. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville is in charge of arrangements.
